Android smartphones have gained immense popularity over their Windows, iPhone, Blackberry and other counterparts.
The primary reason for this is their pricing. You can buy an Android smartphone to suit any budget or income level. Added to this is that, updates to an app, if any, are first made available by Android. As with any computer or smartphone, Android smartphones tend to show a slowdown in performance after their initial high speed rendering.
A key reason why this happens is because your handset is running low on memory or space. When this happens, apps take a longer time to get activated and in turn this could frustrate you. However when this occurs next time, stop fretting and follow some simple steps to pep up the speed of your handset. Here are some simple steps you can try adopting even if you are not a pro.
Goodbye to Unwanted Apps
This is something we could consider checking on a periodical basis. Very often it happens that we download apps suggested by others or even those we think are interesting. Sometimes, we do the download thinking they will help us in some way or the other. However after using them a few times, we lose interest in them and do not uninstall them. Take a few minutes off your browsing and uninstall those apps. Not only will this give more space on your handset, but also increase its overall speed.
Remove Cached Data
As unimportant as it sounds, it is essential that you do this often. They eat up a lot of space on your smartphone. Although not always, cache can at times prevent apps from functioning properly. Get rid of the cache and you will notice how much faster your smartphone works. To delete the cache, go to the Settings menu in your smartphone, and choose the Device Storage option. Go through the list until you get to the entry that says Cached Data. When you press on this, you get a pop up message letting you know that you are about to delete the cache. Click OK to confirm the deletion.
Close Apps after Use
Very often, we find ourselves multitasking with the apps on the smartphone. While this makes things easy for you, remember that this could affect the performance too. When you return to the Home screen after working with your app, do bear in mind that it is still running in the background. After you are done with the multitasking, press on the Home key to pop out all the apps running in the background. Take some time to close each app individually.
Reboot or Restart
Silly as it may seem, your smartphone needs a break just as much as you do! Make it a habit to turn your off your handset for a couple of minutes at least once in three days. This will help you get rid of unwanted background tasks or cache that won’t get deleted otherwise. Now you get the point why it is essential you do this restart, don’t you?
Do Away with Widgets
Widgets are no doubt very impressive. But, you don’t want them on your smartphone at the cost of affecting its performance. Of course, they are quite useful too. But, make sure you have only those widgets that you will be using regularly or often.
Ordinary Wallpapers
If you can avoid having wallpaper on your handset, then that is the best bet. But if you are really keen on having one, stay away from those live ones from the Internet or even those offline animated ones. Talking of animated wallpapers, a good idea is to remove all animated files from your handset or at least those that are not among your hot favorites.
Update Phone Software
Unbelievable but true, this is a very good way to speed up your smartphone. The big plus you get on keeping the software up to date is not only a faster smartphone, but also your device security. To do this, go to the Settings menu and select the About device option. In the window that opens, choose Software update followed by Update. Since this could take quite some time, it is advisable to have your Wi-Fi network activated and to get your gadget connected to it before the update commences. If your smartphone is already up to date, you will get a message regarding this. Alternatively, you will also be informed of updates that are available.
