A lot of times when writing phone reviews, techies forget feature phones as if they are not gadgets at all. Meanwhile, these phones have actually been saving lives since GSM arrived.
Today the average Nigerian with a smart phone also has a feature phone. The original Nokia 105 has sold at the rate of around 100 units per minute since it was released in 2013, which is a staggering statistic. Microsoft has just announced a successor in the form of the new Nokia 105 with an extremely cheap price.
Features include:
• 800 mAh battery that should last for around 35 days or 15 hours of talk time.
• phonebook capacity can take around 2,000 contacts.
• 1.45-inch LCD display and pretty limited functionality with the Series 30+ platform
• It measures 108.5mm x 45.5mm x 14.1mm and comes with the Bubble Bash 2 and Snake Xenzia games pre-installed.
It costs $20, but your Nigerian vendor might charge around #4,500.
P.S.:
Dear Microsoft,
When will you give us another 3310? The kind of phone that we can give your aunty’s cousin’s friend’s children and not have hypertension? Please let us know soon!
